This is the final week for fans of Liverpool FC Women to show their support for two players who have been nominated in the Northwest Football Awards 2019.

Club captain Sophie Bradley-Auckland has been shortlisted for Women's Player of the Season while midfielder Amy Rodgers has been nominated for the Women's Rising Star Award.

Both awards are subject to an online public vote, with Friday the final day when fans can give their backing to candidates.

Liverpool Women's vice-captain Niamh Fahey, currently away on international duty with Republic of Ireland, believes both nominations are well deserved.

Of her centre-back partner Bradley-Auckland, Fahey said: “Massive congratulations to Sophie on her nomination and she’s really deserved it.

“She had a great season and it she’s started in the same way this time. Soph’s just a natural leader, motivator and talker so it’s great to have her in our team.

“She’s super fit and has come back to full-time football in the FA WSL after having a baby and all those injury heartaches she had too which just shows how mentally resilient she is too, so all credit to her.”

Rodgers, 19, is also away for the international break with the England U21s and Fahey believes she has a bright future ahead of her.

She said: “Amy’s a young player but she’s got an experienced head upon her shoulders and she’s mature beyond her years.

“She’s a really exciting player and the possibilities are endless for her to grow and become a big player in the future.”

Other Liverpool nominations include Jürgen Klopp for manager of the season, Virgil van Dijk for Premier League player of the season and Trent Alexander-Arnold for the Rising Star award.
