Manager update for Liverpool FC Women
The board of Liverpool FC Women today provided an update for supporters on the continued progress towards the appointment of a new manager.
As founding members of the Football Association’s Football Leadership Diversity Code, the club has committed to an open and transparent recruitment process, ensuring candidates from as wide a background as possible would come forward.
Technical staff from across the club produced detailed criteria and the position was widely advertised through our own channels as well as the likes of Women in Football and Kick It Out.
This helped produce a huge number of applications from all around the world. These were evaluated and an initial shortlist – considerably longer than normal due to the significant interest in the role – was drawn up.
Everyone on that shortlist has now been interviewed and a small number of candidates have been selected for a second interview ahead of an appointment.
The FA has been involved in positive engagement with LFC Women throughout the process.
The board would also like to place on record its thanks to interim manager Amber Whiteley and her staff, who have continued to maintain focus and performance on the pitch during this period.
A six-game unbeaten run, including four victories, is testament to their talent and professionalism.
