Liverpool FC Women have given a 'good luck' send-off to supporters club chair Jo Goodall as she embarks on a gruelling charity challenge.

Jo, who chairs the independent Liverpool FC Women’s Supporters Club, set off this morning on a Trans Pennine bike ride which will take her from Southport all the way to Hornsea near Hull.

Travelling on her own, she hopes to make the 250-plus-mile journey in five days.

Jo is raising money for Young Minds, a mental health charity which tries to ensure young people get the support they need with their mental wellbeing.

She was sent on her way by LFC Women captain Niamh Fahey and Wales international Rhiannon Roberts during a socially-distanced visit to The Campus training ground.

“I got into cycling during the first lockdown when I built up my own bike. I’m a bit worried about the heat but it’s for a brilliant cause in Young Minds,” said Jo.

“We’ve already beaten our target twice as people have been really generous but every little bit will help the charity.

“Hopefully I’ll have room for my LFCW flag and can spread the word along the route!”
