Glen McAuley scored twice as Liverpool U18s played out a 2-2 draw away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday morning.

The Dublin forward has now scored 11 goals so far in his first season with Neil Critchley's side.

The young Reds came from a goal down to lead 2-1 but a late goal saw 10-man Blackburn claim a point.

On the positive side goalkeeper Shamal George returned from injury and played the full 90 minutes.

Reflecting on the draw, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a frustrating day because we felt we should have won the game.

"We showed good character to come back from a goal down but after we went 2-1 up we didn't take advantage of having the extra man.

"We stopped playing and were wasteful in possession and played the price when they scored a late goal direct from a free-kick.

"It was good to see Shamal back from injury and hopefully he can stay injury free for the season now."
