The Kop Run presented by AXA is going virtual for the 2020-21 season, giving Liverpool fans the opportunity to come together digitally and run in the special event.

For the first time, the virtual run will kick off in Thailand, where fans can choose to run, walk or jog 5k, 10k or up to 100k from Sunday November 22 to Sunday January 17 – making it the most inclusive Kop Run ever.

Each week, runners can log their distance via the Kop Run app and earn points by completing milestone distances and unlocking special digital trophies and medals to be in with a chance of winning exclusive LFC and Krungthai-AXA prizes. Once complete, each runner will earn a Kop Run finisher medal and T-shirt.

While taking part in the Kop Run, fans can also help to raise vital funds for the LFC Foundation x Right To Play ‘Side by Side’ programme in Bangkok.

‘Side by Side’ uses the power of sport and play to transform the lives of vulnerable children, to help them to rise above adversity and achieve their full potential. This high-impact programme gives children and their families the tools and skills they need to overcome the impacts of poverty, conflict and little or no education. Pledging as little as £5/200THB can help give one child the opportunity to participate in a safe, fun and educational ‘Play Day’ in their local community.

Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique, who launched the registration site during a virtual event, said: “Unfortunately, during these uncertain times we are unable to run together in person. However, the virtual Kop Run will allow fans to connect with friends remotely, get competitive and run, jog, or walk at their own pace.

“A virtual run takes a lot of self-motivation and belief, so I want to encourage as many runners as possible to get out there, put in the kilometres and achieve their goals whilst raising much-needed funds for local community projects.”

Sally O’Hara, CEO of Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance Public Company Limited, said: “AXA Group and Krungthai-AXA Life are delighted to once again be the presenting partner of the Kop Run here in Thailand. Following the success of the inaugural run last year, KTAXA is looking forward to the next edition of this exciting event, which encourages everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle through exercise.

“Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines, our Kop Run will be a virtual one this year. This means runners can participate in their own way, choosing when and where to run, based on what’s convenient for them, which allows fitness enthusiasts throughout Thailand to take part.

“At KTAXA, we act for human progress by protecting what matters. Supporting the physical and mental health, wellbeing, confidence and self-belief of Liverpool FC fans, our customers, agents and employees matters to us.

“I hope all participants will bring their ‘Know You Can’ spirit to the virtual Kop Run and as Liverpool FC’s official training partner, we’ll be beside the Kop every step of the way as they look to achieve their goals.”

Registration for the virtual Kop Run presented by AXA is now open, with 8,000 places up for grabs. For more information, click here.
