Youngsters show support for Kick It Out at Anfield
Pupils from two local high schools showed their support for Kick It Out's 'Call Full Time On Hate' campaign on Saturday before watching Liverpool take on Swansea City.
The group of youngsters assisted the club’s Young Fan Support Team around the stadium before kick-off and each received a free ticket for the game in return.
The Young Fan Support Team, which is part of the club’s ‘Red Neighbours’ programme, is a visible, accessible team of youngsters that provides help and assistance to fans attending matches at Anfield.
As the club dedicated its fixture against Swansea to supporting Kick It Out’s ‘Call Full Time On Hate’ campaign the Young Fan Support Team was also updating fans on the planned activities as well as handing out free Kick It Out merchandise.
Callum Moon, aged 16, from the Academy of St Francis of Assisi, said: “Helping the Fan Support Team and giving out information on Kick It Out to LFC fans was a great experience for me. I was able to direct fans to the correct part of the stadium and I felt that I had helped them.”
Mr Webb, from North Liverpool Academy, added: “It was great to see our students talking to fans and offering directions. This helps with those students who are low in self-confidence and also encourages them to interact with adults and fellow peers.”
The ‘Red Neighbours’ programme supports local residents and schools in the Anfield community, focusing on four key areas of need: food poverty and education; support for the elderly community; encouraging a physically active community; and creating memorable experiences for young people.
