LFC thanks fans for record-breaking foodbank donations
Liverpool FC's Red Neighbours programme has paid tribute to fans who helped make the foodbank collection ahead of Sunday's final fixture of the Premier League season the largest to date.
An incredible 732.7kg of items - including non-perishable foods and toiletries - was collected by volunteers and LFC staff before kick-off against Brighton & Hove Albion, with all donations going to the North Liverpool Foodbank.
The collected weight equates to 49 emergency three-day food parcels, providing over 1,970 meals for 196 local people in crisis within the L4, L5 and L6 areas.
As part of its dedication to tackle food poverty, the Red Neighbours programme supports the Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative and hosts foodbank collections at all home games.
Red Neighbours coordinator, Christine Mounsey, said: “This is a substantial amount, and a very positive way to end the football season. We are extremely grateful to the fans who donate at the games, helping to support people in the local community.”
