LFC Foundation hosts Premier League Primary Stars football finals

Delivered by LFC Foundation, Premier League Primary Football Stars is an annual competition that aims to inspire, encourage and develop young individuals, using football.

A total of 176 youngsters from years five and six took part in the U11 finals, with 14 teams battling it out in the mixed competition and eight teams competing in the all-girls tournament. 

This year, the tournament was held in various locations across Merseyside from Anfield Sports and Community Centre to Runcorn, Skelmersdale and St Helens.

Ravenbank Community Primary School, mixed tournament winners, and Childwall C of E Primary School, girls tournament victors, were each crowned champions after a penalty shootout to conclude the tournament. 

More than 800 children took part in the tournament from the preliminary rounds, with each school across Merseyside getting the chance to play in competitive football fixtures.

David McParland, LFC Foundation programme manager, said: “Available to each primary school in the Liverpool city region and afar, the Premier League Primary Stars programme teaches children to be active, grow as individuals and develop important life skills.

“LFC Foundation has seen a very successful eight years with the PLPS Schools tournament (formally the Premier League Schools Tournament) and we are delighted to see the growth and development that has occurred in our youngsters through this annual competition. 

“Thank you to all schools who took part and congratulations to the victors – Ravenbank and Childwall C of E.”

Last season, LFC Foundation engaged more than 8,000 primary school children through our partner schools. This season, LFC Foundation has continued its fantastic relationship with schools near Anfield, partnering with 20 primary schools in the Anfield area.
