LFC Foundation will be showcasing the work of its valued volunteers this week in celebration of national Volunteers' Week 2020.

The Reds’ official charity currently has more than 450 registered volunteers, who generously lend their time throughout the year to assist with LFC Foundation programmes and initiatives, as well as more recently the club’s ‘Unity is Strength’ community response work.

Volunteers’ Week, which runs from June 1-7, is an annual celebration of the contribution that millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.

This week, LFC Foundation will focus on a different theme each day to feature the fantastic work of its volunteers and highlight the many benefits that volunteering brings.

To begin the week, Monday will be dedicated to ‘Listening and Support’, which will be followed by ‘Health and Wellbeing’ on Tuesday, ‘Fundraising’ on Wednesday, ‘COVID-19 response and informal community civic action’ on Thursday, ‘Nature and the Outdoors’ on Friday, ‘Art and Culture’ on Saturday and ‘Sport and Leisure’ to bring the week to a close on Sunday.

Some of the activity will include: case studies of LFC Foundation volunteers across a variety of programmes; a presentation about volunteering from LFC Foundation’s #iwill participants; videos from LFC Foundation’s Youth Panel and Open Goals programme; and much more.

Matt Parish, LFC Foundation director, said: “We are lucky to have an amazing team of active volunteers who kindly dedicate their time and skills to help engage children, young people and families across the Liverpool City Region.

“Not only do they help us serve our local communities by building personal connections and raise aspirations, but they also grow as individuals too by gaining confidence and new skills.

“Even during the difficult times that we are currently living in, our volunteers have stepped up and supported our COVID-19 community response work by supporting the North Liverpool Foodbank hub in Anfield.

“We have an ongoing partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, which creates volunteering opportunities for students who wish to join our team. The students bring so much and are very committed, which makes the partnership a success.

“On behalf of everyone at the LFC Foundation, I would like to sincerely thank all of our dedicated volunteers for their outstanding work.”
