Liverpool FC’s official mascot, Mighty Red, has launched a recognition award scheme for deserving young Reds.

One hundred Golden Mighty Awards will be sent to junior fans aged 5-12 who have made a special contribution or excelled during the recent COVID-19 lockdown.

Alongside the limited edition gold badges, winners will also receive free entry to LFC’s Stadium Tour and Museum experience, a free Mighty Red mocktail and 20 per cent off food at the Boot Room Sports Cafe, a 12-month free LFCTV GO subscription and an LFC home shirt.

The Golden Mighty Award will take nominations in four phases, with 25 of the badges available at each stage. The initial category will be open to children of key workers and aims to recognise youngsters who have used their time in lockdown positively, despite their change in circumstances.

Trent Alexander-Arnold said: “The last few months have been extremely difficult for everyone, particularly those working on the frontline and their families. We want to reward our young fans who have seen their lives changed dramatically due to COVID-19, yet have managed to take something positive away from the lockdown period.

“The children of key workers have had to make incredible sacrifices throughout the pandemic – some not seeing family members for prolonged periods of time – and we want to let them know that we appreciate their strength and courage during what has been a huge disruption to their normal lives.”

Nominations for the first phase are now open and will close on July 5, 2020. Click here to nominate a deserving young Red now.
