LFC Foundation takes on Liverpool Cathedral abseil challenge
A team of staff from LFC Foundation is set to abseil down Liverpool Cathedral to raise money for the Owen McVeigh Foundation.
On Saturday July 31, a team of 20 abseilers, including 14 staff from LFC Foundation and six from the Institute of Directors and Northern Power Women, will be abseiling 150ft down one of the city's most iconic buildings in aid of the Owen McVeigh Foundation.
The Owen McVeigh Foundation was established in memory of 11-year-old Owen, who tragically passed away shortly after being diagnosed with leukaemia in December 2015. The Foundation creates life memories for children suffering from cancer and their families.
The funds raised from the abseil will be used by the charity to support group trips for children with cancer and their families.
Matt Parish, chief executive of LFC Foundation, who is part of the abseiling team, said: “Myself and the team are really looking forward to abseiling down the beautiful Liverpool Cathedral and having the opportunity to enjoy the city skyline from a unique perspective, whilst raising funds for such a great cause.”
Owen’s father, Mark McVeigh, added: “We are forever grateful to the LFC Foundation, and all the support shown towards the Owen McVeigh Foundation. It’s a lovely feeling to be associated with the club Owen truly loved, and we are extremely thankful to everyone who is taking part in the abseiling challenge, whilst helping us to continue to create life memories for children suffering with cancer in the Merseyside area.”
