French international Yohan Cabaye believes the key to beating England in tomorrow night's Euro 2012 Group D clash is stopping Steven Gerrard - the 'soul' of the Three Lions.

The Newcastle man spoke of the fear Gerrard can instil in opposition sides and hailed the Liverpool skipper's leadership qualities as well as his attacking and defensive attributes.

And Cabaye made it clear that Laurent Blanc's resurgent France will make it a priority to seek out the England captain right from the off in Donetsk and aim to prevent him from having any sort of impact on the game.

"Who do we fear most? Steven Gerrard is a very important player," said Cabaye. "He is the soul of this team, the captain, and will be like a king in this game.

"He is very powerful and an inspirational player, a leader. He can be very aggressive going forward but defensively he is also important. It is important to try and nullify him."
