Steven Gerrard is just one goal away from equalling Robbie Fowler's tally of 183 goals for Liverpool. Here's more key facts and figures ahead of today's clash against Sunderland.

Fowler is fifth on the club's all-time goalscorers list while Gerrard has netted six times in his last eight starts.

Last Monday, AFC Wimbledon's James Shea became the 100th different goalkeeper to be beaten by Gerrard throughout his Liverpool career.

Gerrard has scored 116 league goals. Immediately in his sights on the club's leading league goalscorers list are Dick Forshaw on 117, while Kenny Dalglish and Michael Owen both netted 118 times.

He is currently Liverpool's leading scorer in the league this season with five goals and the skipper is the top scorer overall with nine strikes.

Only Billy Liddell, with 34, has scored more league penalties for Liverpool than Gerrard, who after his two against Leicester has taken his tally to 31.

He needs one goal to become only the second Liverpool player to score 50 goals away from home in the Premier League - the other being Michael Owen, who found the net 55 times.

Gerrard will be hoping to surpass Jamie Carragher's total of 508 league appearances for the Reds. The captain is currently on 494. Only 'Carra' has reached the landmark of 500 Premier League appearances for the club.

Liverpool have suffered only three defeats in the last 29 league visits to Sunderland dating back to 1959. They have won 17 and drawn nine, but have been beaten in two of the last five.

The Reds have conceded only 10 goals in their last 22 league visits to Sunderland, keeping 14 clean sheets in the process.

The Reds have won more Premier League clashes on Wearside than they have against Sunderland at Anfield (7-6).

Jordan Henderson scored four league goals in 71 games for Sunderland and five in 79 in all competitions. He made his Liverpool debut against the Black Cats in August 2011.

Gus Poyet has never beaten Liverpool as a manager in four attempts - two each with Sunderland and former club Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sunderland have won one of the last 10 league games - the Tyne and Wear derby when Adam Johnson's 90th-minute goal beat Newcastle at St James' Park.

No team has won fewer league games this season than Sunderland, though the bottom three clubs - Crystal Palace, Burnley and Leicester - have also won three.

The Black Cats have drawn 11 of their 20 games - comfortably the most of any team in the top-flight.
