Adam Lallana set himself a target for goals in his maiden Liverpool season that he is determined to still achieve in the remaining four months of 2014-15.

The Englishman's dazzling close control, agility and composure have brought him a quartet of league strikes for the Reds so far since his switch to Anfield from Southampton last summer.

During his final campaign with the Saints, Lallana registered a tally of nine in the Barclays Premier League and it was therefore natural for him to aim for double figures this time around.

He opened his account with a wonderfully-taken finish past West Bromwich Albion in October, grabbed a second at Leicester City and then a memorable brace over Swansea City.

But the No.20 is not satisfied. No, Lallana sees no reason why the recent upturn in Liverpool form cannot provide a platform for increasing his contribution to at least 10.

"In pre-season, I wanted to reach double figures," the 26-year-old explained to Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood recently.

"I've obviously had a few injuries and been in and out of the team, but in a team like Liverpool when we're playing well there's no reason why I shouldn't get that still.

"I'm just looking for the next one. As long as we keep winning, it'll be nice to contribute. But three points is the priority in my mind."

Few players at Premier League level utilise both feet with the same regularity as Lallana, who is almost equally comfortable with left and right.

It is a personal asset that the midfielder is keen to strengthen too, which is why he has been watching Arsenal's Santi Cazorla closely.

He said: "I've always worked on both feet and now, at 26, I feel comfortable on either foot wherever it comes. It's got to the point where I don't really think about which foot it comes to.

"It's probably just with games and experience that I kind of forget about it. It's a nice attribute to have, I look forward to keeping improving and becoming better on my left side.

"I look at Cazorla - he even hits corners in with his weaker foot, that's quite remarkable. I've always watched Cazorla and I think he's a fantastic player."

An enforced absence meant Lallana missed the second Merseyside derby of the season at the weekend, but he comes back into contention for tonight's visit of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds enter the contest with just a single defeat in their past 14 fixtures, yet require a positive outcome against a side they trail by four points in the standings.

"I feel we turned a massive corner over the Christmas period, myself included," reflected Lallana. "We're just looking up now; we're on the right road and confidence is increasing day by day.

"We're knowing each other's game, [Daniel] Sturridge has come back and there's competition for places. So we're in a really good place at the minute and we just want to keep the ball rolling and keep moving forward."
