Jordon Ibe will be out 'for a few weeks' after suffering a knee injury in the Europa League clash with Besiktas last Thursday, Brendan Rodgers confirmed today.

The Liverpool wide-man was absent from the matchday squad for the 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon due to the issue.

Asked for the latest on his squad's fitness ahead of the midweek meeting with Burnley in the Barclays Premier League, Rodgers provided details of Ibe's situation.

"Jordon Ibe will probably be out for a few weeks," the manager told reporters during his pre-match press conference from Melwood.

"He twisted his knee, laterally on the outside, in Turkey and had to come off towards the end. He has had a scan on that.

"It is not too serious but it's probably just going to mean him out for a few weeks. We'll probably have him back towards the end of March."

There was much more positive news regarding Steven Gerrard's rehabilitation from a hamstring concern that has ruled the captain out since February 10.

Rodgers added: "He's coming along very well. He is building up strength in his hamstring and he has been outside, so he is working very hard. Hopefully in the very near future, he'll be back and available."
