Adam Lallana has promised there will be more to come from him after he returned to the Liverpool starting line-up for the victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder made his first start since playing 45 minutes of Liverpool's defeat to Manchester United on March 22, as Chris Ramsey's side were downed at Anfield.

Injury sustained in the United tie had kept Lallana sidelined throughout a testing period for his teammates; however, he was able to feature from the off as the Reds returned to winning ways yesterday.

Philippe Coutinho swept a sweet finish beyond the rooted Rob Green to open the scoring, but Brendan Rodgers' charges were pegged back when Leroy Fer equalised in the 73rd minute.

Steven Gerrard looked to have missed the opportunity to clinch three points for the Reds when his penalty was saved - but the captain bounced back in trademark fashion to nod the winner in front of an ecstatic Kop.

"It was a bit of a cagey game," reflected Lallana as he spoke to Liverpoolfc.com from the tunnel following the final whistle. "They're scrapping for their lives at the bottom at the minute.

"But it was nice to get the goal and it was fitting for Stevie to get the goal after missing the penalty - which was more of a good save, really. We're glad to get the three points."

Lallana has now racked up 38 appearances for the club since making the switch from Southampton last summer - and he intends to go one further next season, aiming for a more consistent spell in the side.

"There's definitely more for me to give next season," he added. "I'll be looking to be out on the pitch more consistently because it's been difficult for me to get 100 per cent into my rhythm this year, from being on the pitch and then off it."

Victory over QPR brought a disappointing run of results for the Reds to a close and maintained their position at fifth place in the league table.

Defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals was a tough setback for the side and a response was not forthcoming in the encounters that followed.

Last Saturday Liverpool were held to a frustrating draw by West Bromwich Albion before Hull City inflicted a defeat at the KC Stadium on Tuesday, with Lallana featuring as a substitute.

"We're disappointed with how this week has gone, especially the Hull game," admitted the 26-year-old. "We played well in the second half at West Brom, but we felt that we were unlucky not to get the breaks to get the goal, but against Hull we were disappointing.

"We've just got to take it one game at a time. We'll go to Chelsea and look to get a positive result down there. It will be difficult, but we'll go there with confidence hoping to cause an upset.

"We keep going to the end - that's the character of the lads. QPR made it difficult for us today - they probably made it quite scrappy the way they play, which is quite direct, up to the front.

"We could have been better in spells and moved the ball a bit quicker, but we're delighted to get the three points - that's all that counts."
