Steven Gerrard's late winner against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday took the Liverpool captain into outright fifth place in the club's all-time top goalscorer list with 184.

The midfielder had previously been tied with Robbie Fowler, but his stunning header in front of the Kop lifted the Reds' No.8 above his fellow Scouser in a prestigious group.

Ian Rush holds pole position in the record books with 346 strikes, ahead of Roger Hunt (285), Gordon Hodgson (241), Billy Liddell (228) and now Gerrard in the top five.

Completing the 10 most prolific men to represent Liverpool during the past 123 years are Kenny Dalglish, Michael Owen, Harry Chambers and Sam Raybould.

"We know the standard and the status here of Robbie and the sheer talent he was in terms of goals," said Brendan Rodgers.

"So to pass that shows just what an achievement it is for Steven. That's something he has done throughout his career."

The weekend win at Anfield brought a 707th Reds appearance for Gerrard too, consolidating his third place on that particular list.

He could clock up three more games for the club before bidding an emotional farewell at the end of this season to join LA Galaxy in the United States.
