Danny Ings' impressive start to life at Liverpool has earned the striker a maiden call-up to the senior England squad for two Euro 2016 qualifiers this month.

The summer signing has scored in two of the Reds’ past three matches and combined encouragingly with Daniel Sturridge as Aston Villa were beaten 3-2 last weekend.

Having previously represented his country at U21 level, Ings is part of a 24-man squad selected by Roy Hodgson for fixtures against Estonia and Lithuania.

The 23-year-old is joined by club colleagues Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana and James Milner for the international matches on October 9 and October 12 respectively.

Meanwhile, Reds duo Joe Gomez and Jordon Ibe have again been named in the England U21 squad after featuring for Gareth Southgate’s side last month.

The pair will hope to be involved in an U21 European Championship qualifier against Kazakhstan, set to be played at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on October 13.
