Ahead of Liverpool's Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan, check out these 12 interesting facts and figures about the game from club statistician Ged Rea.

Liverpool have made six previous visits to Russia and the 'old' USSR and have won two and lost four. They won 2-1 at Spartak Vladikavkaz in the 1995-96 UEFA Cup and defeated Spartak in Moscow 3-1 in the Champions League group stage of 2002-03.

The Reds currently lie second in the group, four points behind FC Sion, having drawn each of their opening three games 1-1.

On each of the previous occasions they have failed to win the opening three matches of a group stage they have gone on to reach the quarter-finals at least. In 2001-02 they didn't win any of their first games, yet still reached the last eight of the Champions League, while in 2007-08 they reached the semi-final of the same competition.

Liverpool have not won any of their last eight group games in European competition - drawing five and losing three. The last five have all ended in stalemate.

The Reds have not won in their last six away games in Europe since winning 1-0 at Udinese in December 2012.

That clean sheet is the only one Liverpool have kept in their last nine European games away from Anfield.

In the Europa League, Jürgen Klopp has lost three of his 17 games as a manager, and he has faced Russian opposition in one tie previously. Borussia Dortmund beat Zenit St Petersburg 4-2 away from home in the last 16 of the Champions League in 2014 and although they lost 2-1 at home they still progressed.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 11 games in league and cup since the defeat at Manchester United in September.

Prior to the draw at Anfield, the Russians lost 2-1 at FC Sion in the opening fixture before playing out a goalless draw at home to Bordeaux.

They are unbeaten at home this season in Europe with one win and two draws, conceding just once.

Since losing to Atletico Madrid in February 2013, Kazan have lost just one of 12 home games in Europe, winning eight.

No English club has ever avoided defeat to Kazan in Russia - with Tottenham Hotspur losing 1-0, Chelsea 3-2 and Wigan Athletic 1-0.
