Sadio Mane sees no reason why Liverpool cannot get their Premier League season up and running with a victory at Arsenal today.

The Reds begin the new campaign against the Gunners this afternoon and travel to north London having won only once in 13 previous visits to Emirates Stadium.

However, Mane is optimistic ahead of his first competitive outing for Liverpool following his move from Southampton this summer.

“Every game in the Premier League is a hard game. It’s not my first time to play against Arsenal so I know them well, but I’m confident because I know the quality of my team,” the Senegalese told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We’ll just do what we have to do like always, and why not win? It’s possible.”

The Reds’ No.19 is concentrating solely on Liverpool’s performance, rather than that of Arsenal, and also expects the travelling fans to make themselves heard in the capital.

“Every team is a good team but I’m not interested in them. I’m only focused on myself and my team, I’m happy and everyone is looking forward to playing and winning games,” Mane added.

“It’ll be a good atmosphere in the stadium and that’s good not just for Arsenal, because there will be LFC fans there as well. It’ll be a tough game, a good test for both teams.”
