Our countdown begins with Terry McDermott, who takes joint-ninth place thanks to a run of seven consecutive strikes during the 1981-82 season.
The midfielder had taken penalties intermittently throughout his Liverpool career, but began his most clinical streak with a winner at Coventry City in the September of that campaign.
Two in one game followed against Swansea City at Anfield the next month, before further successful spot-kicks in meetings with Manchester United, AZ Alkmaar, Arsenal and Coventry again.
His run was ended with a miss at home to Notts County in April 1982, which proved to be McDermott’s final penalty during a game for the Reds.
