Monday's LFC headlines: Coutinho, Klopp and an Anfield win
Monday was a particularly busy day at Liverpool FC, with the first team in between two games in three days, an update on the potential return of Philippe Coutinho and a Melwood press conference.
The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw by West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday, but thoughts have already turned to Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Middlesbrough.
Jürgen Klopp offered his take on both games at his pre-match press conference, while we caught up with Coutinho to learn more about his recovery from an ankle injury.
And just for good measure, the U23s were in action at Anfield as they welcomed their Arsenal counterparts for an intriguing youth contest.

Coutinho offered a potential boost with the news that he feels on course to return when Liverpool host Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.
“My hope is to return for this game,” said the influential Brazilian, who sustained the injury in the first half of the win over Sunderland at Anfield last month. “The rehab is going really well. I’m pleased with how I am recovering.”
The day also included injury updates on Emre Can and Dejan Lovren, courtesy of the boss at his media briefing, and an explanation of Marko Grujic’s recent absence from the squad.
Klopp discussed his faith in the defensive qualities of his team and labelled Middlesbrough an ‘interesting challenge’ to overcome this Wednesday as he fielded questions from reporters.
