It was another busy day at Liverpool FC on Friday as Jürgen Klopp held his pre-Everton press conference and the squad trained at Melwood.

Here is a summary of the key events at the club…

Our top three stories…

The manager provided a cautiously optimistic injury update at his media briefing in the early afternoon, giving the latest on the chances of Daniel Sturridge, Emre Can and Joel Matip featuring on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Klopp confirmed that Simon Mignolet will retain his place in the Liverpool goal for the trip to Goodison Park, having impressed in achieving a clean sheet against Middlesbrough.

Roberto Firmino wasn’t on the scoresheet at the Riverside Stadium but the Brazilian has become used to hearing fans chant ‘Bobby Firmino!’ in recognition of his efforts across 2016.

He loves it, too.

On the LFC World roadshow…

We have been speaking to former Reds midfielder Vladimir Smicer, who is out in Kuala Lumpur with Patrik Berger, Robbie Fowler and Bruce Grobbelaar for the special fan event.

Quote of the day…

“It’s the game for us and we have to respect this and we will, no problem. Football is not the most important thing in the world, but on Monday night I’d say for 90 minutes in and around Liverpool, probably it is. So let’s do our best.”
