Liverpool must quickly restore the dressing-room spirit built up by going 18 matches unbeaten in order to embark on another similar run in the aftermath of Monday's defeat to Swansea City.

That is the view of Alberto Moreno, who featured in the first nine fixtures of the Reds' hot streak before suffering an an ankle injury that has kept him out of action since.

Watching on from the sidelines, the Spaniard has been impressed by the form of his teammates during a busy period that has required heavy squad rotation.

And, as the defender plans his return to the fold, he believes the only way to respond to a first reverse since October is to kickstart another such run.

"Eighteen games without defeat, that's a great figure, the statistics don't lie," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"The good thing about it was that all players were involved - if someone was out for whatever reason, the person that replaced them did really, really well.

"That group dynamic and feeling we had as a squad needs to continue, it's unacceptable really when you suffer a defeat like we did at Swansea.

"You can't afford to drop points like that. We know it's the Premier League, we know every game is tough, but games you should be getting something out of you can't afford to drop three points.

"Every team in the Premier League can make life difficult for you and we know that sometimes if you just drop your guard for one moment they can score, and then that makes it hard for you to get back in the game to get a goal to equalise or even win.

"It's a case of starting the run again now."

Monday's game saw Liverpool frustrated by a deep-lying Swansea defence before being hit by a sucker punch from a set-piece.

The weekend fixture with West Bromwich Albion has the potential to throw up a similar test, with the Baggies having earned a 0-0 Premier League draw employing similar tactics at Anfield last month.

On combatting that approach, Moreno added: "The main thing is to be patient, keep calm, and keep possession of the ball.

"The more we have possession of the ball and move it side to side, it means that you're stretching them and you will create an opportunity by creating gaps.

"You've just got to be confident that the gap, that split-second chance, will come and keep calm and patient until it does - and make sure when you do, you don't miss it."

Moreno was one of a number of Reds stars who suffered defeat in two cup finals - the League Cup and Europa League - during Jürgen Klopp's first season at the helm.

The full-back insists he is not considering making amends at this early stage of the FA Cup, but underlined the hunger for trophies present in the squad.

"It's looking a long way ahead to start talking about making up for finals where you've lost," said the No.18.

"There's a long way to go, it's best to look at it round by round. Of course, in the back of your mind, why not have that as a target?

"Getting to the final and maybe winning the FA Cup, it's another trophy, and I think we are among the teams who have a chance of winning the whole thing.

"But, first and foremost, we focus all our attention on the weekend and getting past West Brom.

"Since I've been here we've not won a trophy and I've really, really got a huge desire to try and put that right by winning something, as we all have.

"We've got a top-quality squad currently but it's fair to say that in the three previous seasons I've been at the club we had some really good players in the squad and during that time we had some decent chances to win silverware.

"For whatever reason, it didn't come to fruition, which does mean we've got even more desire and hunger to try and win something this season."
