Liverpool's conquering of world football will see them proudly possess the gold FIFA Champions Badge for the next year.

Victory over Flamengo on Saturday gave the Reds their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup title – therefore earning the right to wear a prestigious symbol of the achievement.

Jürgen Klopp's side will be officially presented with the badge – 78 millimetres by 57 millimetres in size – at a ceremony.

UEFA will allow Liverpool to wear it in the Champions League this season and the next. However, it is not set to be permitted for matches in the Premier League.

In the FA Cup, if the club wants to wear something different on its kit to what is registered with the Premier League, then a formal application is required.

A FIFA spokesperson told Liverpoolfc.com: "As per the usage guidelines, the winning team can wear the FIFA World Champions Badge from the day it becomes champions up to and including the final of the next edition of the tournament."

The world football governing body says the emblem can only be worn by the Liverpool first team, adding: "The badge may only be used on the current official team playing shirts.

"That means that the FIFA World Champions Badge may not be used on previous [or] historical versions of the team shirts, training jerseys, tracksuits, training tops or any other products."

Obtaining the logo was a source of motivation for members of the squad to go on and win the competition.

"When I speak about the tournament with family and friends, they all speak about the badge," Georginio Wijnaldum stated in November.

"That's something you want; every time you look at the shirt it reminds you that you won the World Cup for teams."

Florent Sinama-Pongolle was part of the Liverpool side that suffered defeat by Sao Paulo in the 2005 final. He still feels raw about missing out on the flash of gold.

"You want it more than anything," the former striker told this website.

The FIFA Club World Cup Champions Badge was first introduced in 2007 and is one in a series that are awarded to winners of selected FIFA events.

The Italian national team were first to be presented with it for winning the 2006 World Cup, and Liverpool now become the first English side in over a decade to claim it.
