With today the fifth anniversary of Alisson Becker's arrival at Liverpool, we take a statistical look back on a remarkable half-decade for the Brazilian at the club.

Signed from AS Roma in the summer of 2018, Alisson has gone on to play an integral part in the successes the Reds have achieved under Jürgen Klopp - including Champions League and Premier League honours.

His phenomenal record between the posts shows more than a century of clean sheets for the club in 231 appearances, with the milestone 100th registered when Brentford were beaten 1-0 at Anfield in May.

"This is not only a number of myself," he insisted modestly after that game. "It's from all the boys, from all the staff, goalkeeping coach department, everybody. We work together with a common goal and a clean sheet is a common goal of ourselves."

Only six men have ever kept more shutouts for the club, and Alisson will bypass David James soon enough as the No.1 from the 1990s is now only one ahead of him.

And on a clean sheet against appearances basis, only Ray Clemence (48.6 per cent) and Pepe Reina (44.9 per cent) are in front of Alisson (43.7 per cent).

In the Premier League's total clean sheet standings, the 30-year-old is already ranked 24th with 78, and he will be seeking to increase his tally and climb that list in the new season. His clean sheet percentage of 45.1 ranks him fourth among the top 25 goalkeepers for shutout total.

Two of Alisson's five seasons on Merseyside so far have ended with him collecting the division's Golden Glove award, doing so courtesy of 21 clean sheets in 2018-19 and 20 during 2021-22.

Between those individual accolades, of course, was the collective triumph of winning Liverpool's first league title for 30 years in 2019-20 - with the stopper's contribution involving 13 shutouts and an assist.

We can also take a more in-depth look at player performance using advanced statistical analysis. Goalkeepers can be judged on how they perform against post-shot expected goal data, which uses a model to evaluate how difficult shots are to save.

On this basis, Alisson saved 10.1 goals more than an average goalkeeper would have in 2022-23, the biggest positive margin of anyone in Europe's top five leagues (England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain).

Across the entirety of his time with Liverpool, only Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid has played at least as many minutes and overperformed by more than the Reds' No.1.

While saves and clean sheets will always be his key target, we must not overlook what the Brazil international offers going forward either. In three of the last four seasons, Alisson has used his superb passing ability to assist a goal for Mohamed Salah.

The set includes assists in victories against both Manchester United and Manchester City in very memorable circumstances. Twenty-four different players have set up a goal for Salah for Liverpool, but only 11 can better Alisson's tally of three assists for him.

We have already mentioned some of his honours here but scroll down the full list and you'll also see the entry 'Liverpool Goal of the Season: 2020-21' among them.

Before the Reds took on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in May 2021, two things were true: a goalkeeper had never scored for the club and one hadn't ever bagged a winning goal in a Premier League match.

One expertly guided header from Alisson in the 95th minute put both of those facts to bed forever. It was a truly incredible moment that nobody will ever forget.

Roberto Negrisolo, his goalkeeping coach at previous club Roma, memorably called Alisson 'the Messi of goalkeepers' because "he is a goalkeeper who can define an era".

And during his five years at Anfield so far, the No.1 has undoubtedly helped to define the Klopp era at Liverpool.
