Manchester City are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool for the transfer of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The Germany international was supposedly the subject of a £11million bid from the Reds in January and his struggling for playing time at the Nou Camp.

City could be keen to upgrade in the goalkeeping department, with the Daily Mirror claiming that incoming manager Pep Guardiola wants Ter Stegen.

Current back-up Willy Caballero put in an heroic performance in the Capital One Cup final, but Guardiola may want a keeper of higher calibre to challenge No.1 Joe Hart.
