Barcelona stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has added fuel to the fire over his future at the club by saying he needs to match his own personal goals.

The Germany international was in terrific form on Tuesday as his side thrashed Antonio Conte's Italy 4-1 at the Allianz-Arena.

But with the Liverpool links growing stronger, Ter Stegen admits that his future is in the hands of Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.

He told reporters: "I don't know what the coach [Luis Enrique] thinks, you have to ask him. I can just say that I want to give my very best.

"That's what I always do – I want to give my best for the team and obviously also for me.

"I hope we reach the next round in the Champions League and win our next game in the league – these are my goals with the team. Obviously I also have personal goals.

"The coach decides the way he decides, I guess he has his reasons to do so. But we will see how this goes on in the future."

It's expected to be a busy summer for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, as the charismatic manager looks to rebuild his squad.

A number of German stars are thought to be on his shortlist, with Ter Stegen and Mario Gotze linked with a move to Anfield.
