Liverpool and Man United cleared for move as Man City back out of deal
Manchester City will not pursue Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen this summer despite already missing out on Manuel Neuer, according to reports.
Ter Stegen, 23, will likely leave Barca at the end of the season, with both Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly keen.
Incoming City manager Pep Guardiola is also said to be eyeing a new goalkeeper - but a pursuit of Ter Stegen is unlikely.
The Bayern Munich boss is reportedly unconvinced with Joe Hart's ability to play as a 'sweeper keeper'.
There were claims earlier this month that Guardiola would push to bring Germany international Neuer with him to the Etihad.
City would have offered the goalkeeper a £300,000-a-week contract to leave the club.
But after Neuer rejected the approach, it appears Guardiola will make do with Hart rather than source an alternative replacement.
According to the Daily Mail, City will not push for Ter Stegen despite the player being available at the right price.
Barca are said to be interested in selling Ter Stegen in order to raise cash for the wage increases Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Neymar will soon be demanding, as well as helping to fund the redevelopment of the Nou Camp.
Ter Stegen has a £63million buyout clause but the Daily Mail claim both United and Liverpool could get their man for far cheaper.
