Liverpool are weighing up a move for Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule, according to reports.

The Reds are likely to strengthen their defensive options in the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to provide competition among his ranks.

And according to German newspaper Bild, Sule has been identified as an ideal signing, with Liverpool said to have enquired about his availability.

Sule has been a regular for Hoffenheim this term, playing in every one of their 27 Bundesliga games.

The 20-year-old, who is under contract until 2019, recently hinted at a move to England.

He told Bild: "England is sometimes appealing because the physical style of play suits me."

Sule has represented Germany at youth level but is yet to earn his first senior cap.

The report claims the Merseyside outfit face competition from Wolfsburg who have also been keeping tabs on the youngster.

Liverpool have raided Hoffenheim in the past with Roberto Firmino completing his £29million move to Anfield in the summer.

Klopp has already made one defensive addition to his squad for next season with Joel Matip, who will leave Schalke at the end of the campaign.
