Liverpool rival Arsenal for Premier League hitman
Liverpool have offered Leicester's Jamie Vardy a £140,000-a-week contract, according to reports.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to bring in a host of fresh talent in the transfer window and Vardy is said to be on his wishlist.
But according to The Mirror, he has a slim chance of landing him.
Reports emerged earlier today claiming Arsenal had triggered Vardy's £20million release clause.
But because Liverpool aren't in the Champions League next year, the Merseyside outfit don't have the option that is on offer to the Gunners.
Despite Liverpool offering a huge increase on Vardy's current £60,000-a-week contract at the Foxes, Arsenal are leading the race to sign him and have already held talks.
The Mirror claim Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the England international and was present at Wembley last night as England recorded a 1-0 win over Portugal.
Vardy is said to have asked for a four-year deal and a contract of £120,000-a-week to leave the Premier League champions.
Leicester are determined to keep hold of their star striker but know Arsenal and Liverpool are set to test their resolve over the summer.
