Schalke ace delighted Klopp is a fan
Max Meyer has revealed he is well aware Jurgen Klopp is a fan of his, but insisted he is happy at Schalke and will not be moving to Liverpool or anywhere else this summer.
The Schalke playmaker enjoyed an excellent season for the German club scoring six times and grabbing ten assists in all competitions and his name has more than once been mentioned alongside Liverpool and the word ‘transfer’.
And the 20-year-old has now added further fuel to the flames by admitting he was delighted with the praise he received from the Liverpool boss since he has broken into the Schalke first-team.
"I know from the past that he appreciates me as a player," Meyer told Kicker.
"After my first derby against Borussia Dortmund – I was 18-years-old and scored a goal – he has publicly expressed praise for me.
"That’s a nice feeling, when a great coach as he finds you good. I am very happy at Schalke and I am still very young."
Despite dismissing any talk of a potential summer switch, Meyer refused to rule out a move in the future.
"I have many more years as a player in front of me," he said. "I feel here 100 per cent well.
"It is not that I have to play absolutely to the end of my career near my home. You could maybe someday at least consider new experiences, if another club is interested."
Liverpool are still in America preparing for the new season and will hoping to bounce back from their first defeat of the summer at the hands of Chelsea against AC Milan this weekend.
