Liverpool to challenge Barca and Atletico for midfielder
Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are locked in a transfer battle for Uruguayan midfielder Juan Manuel Sanabria, according to reports.
Sanabria has been turning heads at Nacional despite not even breaking into the Uruguayan side's first team.
The 16-year-old has starred for Nacional's U19s and is the captain of the Uruguay U17 squad.
And this is said to have attracted the attention of La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Liverpool.
Spanish newspaper Marca claims Atletico are keen to register their interest in Sanabria, despite currently serving a transfer ban for the next two windows.
The report says the La Liga side have made an agreement with Nacional whereby the teenager could join them as a 'guest'.
But no official transfer can be completed due to the sanctions imposed on the club by Fifa, paving the way for other teams to swoop.
Barcelona are said to have had 'serious contact' with the Uruguyan and Liverpool have also firmly registered their interest with Nacional.
Sanabria linked up with the Reds at their Melwood training complex in 2015, spending 10 days with the Premier League club.
And Liverpool are said to have a good relationship with Nacional, following the deal for defender Sebastian Coates in 2011.
