Lyon ready to sell rumoured Liverpool target
Lyon are set to spark a scramble for the signature of Alexandre Lacazette after admitting the player could be sold this summer.
Lacazette has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 26 goals in 29 Ligue 1 games and notching six Europa League goal in Lyon’s run to the semi-finals.
The 25-year-old France international striker has been a long-time rumoured target of Liverpool, with Arsenal, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid among other potential suitors.
And Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted for the first time that Lacazette could move on during the forthcoming transfer window.
“If the club of Alex’s heart is capable of matching our demands, like Barcelona with Samuel Umtiti last year, then things will go well,” said Aulas.
“Otherwise, it also depends on any other outgoing transfers.
“If other players feel Lyon are not big enough for them, we will look for players who are equally strong and have the right mindset.
“We will not remain inactive on the transfer market. If some players leave, we will re-invest that money in the squad.”
Lacazette, who is valued at £35million, hinted earlier this year he could leave Lyon.
“I think this summer will be the moment for a change of scenery and discover something else, always with the idea of moving forward and improving,” he said in February.
“I’m going to keep working with the hope that good opportunities will come along this summer.”
