Klopp targets Mbappe
Liverpool are reported to have entered the race to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappe, but would have to break the bank to secure a deal.
The 18-year-old forward was a revelation when helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title in France, while he also shone on the big stage as they made it all the way to the Champions League semi-finals.
There is no shortage of interest in Mbappe, with Real Madrid already reported to have failed with one bid to sign him, while Manchester City, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be in the hunt.
Liverpool can now also be added to that list after reports over the weekend claimed that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had made contact with the player’s representative regards a potential switch to Anfield.
Whether Liverpool will be willing to match Monaco’s valuation also remains to be seen, as the £100million needed would completely smash the transfer record set by Andy Carroll’s £35million switch.
It has also been suggested Mbappe may opt to stay with Monaco so there will be little disruption ahead of the World Cup next year.
