Mohamed Salah fit to face Arsenal
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is fit to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Friday night.
The Egypt international’s absence from the festive squad photo taken at Melwood on Wednesday sparked fears about his involvement in the capital showdown.
However, the ECHO understands that Salah was rested for part of the session as Jurgen Klopp continues to tread carefully with his 20-goal top scorer.
Salah isn’t a fitness doubt and is expected to be unleashed on the Gunners as Liverpool look to extend their 12-game unbeaten run.
The £36.9million man is the only member of Klopp’s squad to have featured in all 18 Premier League matches so far.
Salah has a decent record against Arsenal. His first goal in England came against the Gunners when Chelsea won 6-0 at Stamford Bridge in March 2014.
He also netted in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Arsene Wenger’s side in August after running half the length of Anfield.
When Salah scored against Bournemouth last weekend he became the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush in 1986 to score 20 goals in a season before Christmas.
He’s currently top of the Premier League charts with 14 league goals. Only two Liverpool players have scored more for the club in a Premier League season before Christmas - Luis Suarez (19 in 2013/14) and Robbie Fowler (16 in 1995/96 & 15 in 1994/95).
