The full-time whistle had barely been blown on a 3-1 Liverpool triumph at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night before goalscorer Adam Lallana was considering the prospect of finishing the week with a third straight victory.

Despite falling behind against Leicester City when Leonardo Ulloa's driven effort from the right channel crashed off the near post, hit Simon Mignolet and rolled into the net, the Reds were commanding henceforth.

Lallana produced an immediate response to the setback when he pounced on a loose ball inside Foxes territory and thundered it into the bottom corner. Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson then completed the turnaround in the second half.

The result was a second win in three days for Brendan Rodgers' charges, who had fought relentlessly to secure a 1-0 scoreline over Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday, snapping a frustrating run of five matches without success.

"It was a huge result for us and that's back-to-back wins," Liverpoolfc.com heard from Lallana, who had been brought into the starting line-up by the boss. "It builds up to the game at the weekend nicely.

"It's a massive result for us. It has been a big week and we want to finish it well; we have got a great chance to get three points against Sunderland [this Saturday]. That's what we'll be aiming to do.

"We knew it wasn't going to be easy coming to Leicester; they had only lost once here this season. That they are bottom of the league proves what a tough division it has been this season.

"We went a goal behind so we had to pull together even more. When you are not playing so well, you have got to stick together and grind results out when you are not playing at your best.

"But there were glimpses, especially in attack - I thought Raheem was brilliant again, and Rickie again, and Stevie. We have got quality to win games, so if we stay in the game like we did we can push on and hopefully creep up the table."

Having been the creator for Rickie Lambert's maiden goal for Liverpool last month, the No.20 on this occasion owed his long-time teammate a debt of gratitude for a vital contribution in the leveller past Leicester.

The powerful striker's presence ensured the Foxes could not sufficiently clear their penalty area, presenting Lallana with the opportunity to sneak in and thrash an unstoppable hit underneath Kasper Schmeichel.

Lambert has now started each of the Reds' past four contests and has been a central figure in a goal during each run-out - a spell of productivity that has not surprised his old friend from Southampton.

"I know the big man will pin his man and he probably just saw me running onto the ball," Lallana reflected on his second strike since a summer transfer. "I just hit it instinctively and it ended up in the back of the net.

"He has been brilliant for us in the last four games, coming into the team. He has contributed in every game with a goal or assist. He has worked hard for this moment and his run of games; I always knew he was going to turn the corner, and I'm delighted for him and the team."

Rodgers retained faith in Lucas Leiva and Kolo Toure, both of whom have recently been recalled to his XI and responded to the chance with displays of trademark experience and know-how in midfield and defence respectively.

Lallana added: "They have showed how professional they are. Every professional finds himself out of the team at some point in their career. They work hard day in, day out because they know they are part of the team.

"They have reaped their rewards by coming in and being part of a couple of good results when we were struggling and had our backs up against the wall. It is a team game and that has shown and proven that."
