Brendan Rodgers has applauded Adam Lallana's technique and believes the wonderfully balanced midfielder will make a 'big impact' at Liverpool.

The 26-year-old, who arrived from Southampton in the summer, scored another sublime goal for the club against Leicester City on Tuesday night. He levelled matters with a sweet first-time, left-footed half-volley to record his 50th career league goal.

Reds supporters were treated to similar adroitness from Lallana in the 2-1 win over West Brom earlier in the season at Anfield, where he displayed outstanding control as well as a superb touch and finish.

Rodgers explained why the exciting Lallana, who has made 14 appearances in all competitions, has been used sparingly thus far.

"I thought he was excellent the other night [at Leicester]," the manager said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Sunderland.

"He's been very very good since he's come in. Some of the changes within the team and the reasons behind that tactically has meant that he's missed out on some games, but when he has played, he's shown his quality.

"He took his goal very well with great technique on the half-volley. He's got great work rate, and intensity to his game, so I've been delighted with him.

"He's a good, young man who is determined do his best for this football club and he'll have a big impact here."
