Gomez and Ibe earn U21 call-up
Liverpool duo Joe Gomez and Jordon Ibe have been named in the England U21 squad for games with USA U23s and Norway next month.
The Reds pair are among the 23 players selected by Gareth Southgate for the September double-header.
England face the Americans in a friendly on Thursday September 3 and then travel to Norway for a European Championship qualifier four days later.
Gomez has started all three of Liverpool’s fixtures so far this season, helping his team to keep clean sheets in each, following his summer arrival.
The 18-year-old, who signed from Charlton Athletic, has been deployed at left-back by Brendan Rodgers after impressing in pre-season.
Ibe, meanwhile, began the victories over Stoke City and Bournemouth and appeared as a substitute against Arsenal on Monday night.
