Jürgen Klopp has praised the 'brilliant job' done by goalkeeping coach John Achterberg in helping Simon Mignolet claim more Barclays Premier League clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in 2015.

The Belgian shot-stopper made it 16 shutouts for the calendar year - one more than nearest rival Joe Hart of Manchester City - as he kept out Sunderland in Wednesday's 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.

Klopp reaffirmed his faith in Mignolet as he reflected on the achievement ahead of the weekend trip to West Ham United, and also chose to single out Dutch coach Achterberg for the part he has played.

“I’m really satisfied with Simon,” the manager told reporters at Melwood on Thursday.

“I can only say this unless you ask and next day some of you will write [we are signing] 500 goalkeepers from all over the world! You can write what you want but at the end of the day I’m fine with our goalkeepers.

“I really trust John Achterberg because he does a brilliant job here. He is one of the most hardest working people I have ever met.

“He is a goalkeeper coach 25 hours a day, and it’s good to work together with these guys and everything is okay.

“There’s no player in the world [who doesn’t] make faults and that’s because of the game and because of a lot of situations in the game, but you need the right skills and the readiness for getting better, and that’s what we have in our squad.”
