Daniel Sturridge's injury-time goal helped England come from behind to beat Wales 2-1 in a pulsating Euro 2016 encounter that featured three Liverpool players.

The Reds No.15 emerged from the bench alongside Jamie Vardy at half-time with Joe Allen and the Welsh in front thanks to Gareth Bale's well-hit free-kick.

Roy Hodgson's substitutions helped turn the game in the Three Lions' favour, however, and they were back on terms when Leicester forward Vardy poked home after Sturridge's dangerous cross was turned into his path.

And, with time running out as England pushed for a winner, the Liverpool striker turned from provider to goalscorer to decide a hard-fought fixture.

He prompted a slick exchange in the box and toed home from a tight angle to send his country top of Group B and put them on course for the knockout stages.

Adam Lallana also featured for 73 minutes for England, while Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner remained on the bench.

Goalkeeper Danny Ward missed out on a place in the starting XI for the Welsh after Wayne Hennessey overcame his injury problems to return between the sticks.

England face Martin Skrtel and Slovakia in their next game on Monday, while Wales will take on Russia.
