The top five begins with the second man in club history to reach double figures with consecutive penalties scored for Liverpool – the legendary Billy Liddell.

His first successful spot-kick came during a 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough in October 1948, before he squandered a second opportunity within two minutes.

Liddell’s best run from 12 yards was actually much later in his Reds career instead, beginning in early 1955 and lasting almost three years.

A strike against Grimsby Town on Boxing Day 1957 took his tally to 10 without fault but the streak was halted by a miss during a Second Division clash with Bristol Rovers.
