Liverpool forward Sadio Mane set up the opening goal as Senegal beat Cape Verde Islands 2-0 in their World Cup qualifier in Dakar on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old provided an assist for Balde Diao Keita to put the home side ahead in the first half and the advantage was doubled through Moussa Sow on 80 minutes.

Mane played the whole game for his country, who took an early lead in Group D of the African preliminaries, which also contains Burkina Faso and South Africa.

The Reds man and his compatriots will continue their campaign with a trip to South Africa next month.
