Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is among the final three contenders for the CAF African Player of the Year award.

The Senegal international was initially part of the five-man shortlist for the accolade, which has now been whittled down further.

Mane – who has scored eight goals in 18 games since signing for the Reds last summer – is joined by Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez in the remaining running for the honour.

The winner will be announced at a gala ceremony in Nigeria on Thursday January 5.
