Always a player for the big occasion, Dirk Kuyt was a reliable penalty taker for Liverpool too and scored eight of the 10 he struck for the club in matches.
In fact, the Dutchman was successful with each of his first eight efforts from 12 yards, beginning with a derby-winning spot-kick brace at Everton in October 2007.
A couple of years passed before further conversions against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Everton, Sunderland, Arsenal and Newcastle United stretched his run.
Kuyt’s record was halted by a miss at Goodison Park in 2011, though the Reds nevertheless claimed a 2-0 win in that meeting of the Merseyside rivals.
