Thiago Alcantara brought his wealth of experience at the elite level of European football to Liverpool when he signed a long-term deal in September 2020.

The Spain international completed a move from FC Bayern Munich, with whom he’d lifted the Champions League the previous month to seal a 2019-20 treble with the German giants.

Thiago broke a Premier League record on his Reds debut when, coming off the bench at half-time away at Chelsea, he completed 75 passes during his 45-minute appearance – the highest ever for that time on the pitch since Opta’s data collection began.

His first season on Merseyside was, however, disrupted by injury but he returned to help the team’s push for a third-place finish in the league.

Thiago scored his first goal for the club on May 8, 2021 at Anfield to wrap up a 2-0 victory over Southampton.

The midfielder, who possesses a jaw-dropping range of passing and skills, appeared 39 times in Liverpool’s memorable 63-game 2021-22 season, as they reached the finals of the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

His stunning long-range hit at Anfield against FC Porto in the November was later voted Champions League Goal of the Tournament.

Thiago ended the campaign with an FA Cup winner’s medal, having started the final against Chelsea, five assists and a pair of goals.
